Manuscript Submission Guidelines

Third Coast Publishing receives several author submissions per day, and we always enjoy reviewing quality fiction and non-fiction work. We have noticed, however, that many authors are not aware of how to format their work, and therefore submit their manuscripts improperly.

In order to submit your work properly, and avoid the risk of having it returned unread, please carefully review the following guidelines prior to sending your manuscript:

Submit your work electronically via email to thirdcoastpublishing@gmail.com
Your manuscript should look as through you've typed it. Neither handwritten, scanned documents or those containing creative fonts and graphics will be accepted. Use either Arial or Times New Roman fonts.
If graphics are required in the final published draft, please indicate this in your cover letter that summarizes your work. If your work is indeed accepted for publication, we will request your graphics and a detailed description of their placement at a later date.
Do not justify the text. By this we mean do not select the option in Word and other word processing programs that allow you to align your text with both the left and right margins. Usually the proper justification of manuscript text is left alignment with only a few exceptions.
All work must be submitted in double-space format. Manuscripts that are submitted single-spaced will be returned unread.
Margins should be at least one inch from all sides.
Show new paragraphs by indenting the first line of each paragraph by five spaces.
At the top left of the first page, put your name (and pseudonym, if applicable) address, phone number and email address.
The rest of the first page should include the title and your name, centered, about halfway down the page, begin the story on the next page.
Place the page number, your surname, and the title on the top right corner of every page beyond the first page.
To indicate a scene break, leave a blank line, place a single asterix in the center of the next line, and then another blank line before resuming your text.
Do not use italics. To indicate text that should be italicized in the final published draft of the story, underline that section of text.
At the end of your story, leave two blank lines, then type THE END or ### in the center of the next line.
